The Training Course in Security Awareness for all Seafarers, belongs to the minimum training requirements and basic instructions in maritime security for all seafarers, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation VI / 6, paragraphs 2, Section A-VI / 6, Paragraph 4, Table A-VI / 6-1 of the STCW'78 Convention, as amended and its Training Code, comprises 6 theoretical hours.
Seafarers employed or contracted with a level of support on board a ship will receive training or instruction to become aware of and familiarize themselves with security issues. They should contribute to maritime security through awareness and recognition of threats to maritime security.Due to different piracy events and illegal acts that have occurred during navigation, maritime companies together with international organizations and maritime administrations have had to adopt some measures to safeguard human life and maritime trade in which the crew is involved. What encourages all the crew to have an awareness of maritime security issues and it is accredited by the maritime administration.I know has developed the structure of the course seeking that the participant has knowledge about maritime security and apply them on board the vessel when necessary to comply with the provisions of the ISPS code.
